About Brand
Megumi H is a luxury, stylish and handmade footwear brand based in Japan. For mature women in their 30s to 50s, the brand creates something unique and special that nobody else wears. Inspired by the shapes and shades of nature and guided by the findings of thorough research, my designs offer a fresh look. Twice a year, you will see completely different designs of shoes with high quality leather and materials.
How I started
When I was working as an office worker, unfortunately, as far as I am concered, in my town I couldn't find shoes I wanted to wear. The "shoe society" was polarised between women in their 20s, and the over 60s. Although most shoes for the young are high heels(which sometimes caused pain!), unique, cute and cheap shoes attracted me, so I enjoyed wearing them most of the time. However, there was one thing that haunted me; the thoughtsof others, such as; "Is she trying to look young by wearing such shoes?"
The plain and flat, ordinary shoes for the over 60s on the other hand gave me comfort that I hadn't experienced before. It was as if I were walking on carpet! But this comfort comes at a price; loss of individuality and admiring glances from not only men, but also women.
A friend of mine also told me, "although I am a busy mother, I am still a woman, and so sometimes I want to dress up to look beautiful!"
you may think that relying on fashion itself is wrong, women should educate their mind! It's true!
However, please take a bit of time to imagine when you wear luxury shoes. Don't they give you confidence? Didn't you feel you were special?
I won't say my shoes give you what you want, but they could help you get closer to your idea of an ideal woman. That is my brand's aim.

About designer
In 2012, Megumi Horiki graduated from London college of fashion, Cordwainers footwear design. During the two years, I learned the choice of leather and materials and unusual combinations of them.
In 2011, I recieved the runner-up of Footwear Designer Awards, Barratt's Competition in London. The part of the design was producted by Barrotts shoes in the UK.

Megumi H(メグミ エイチ）は、30代から50代女性に向けたラグジュリーでスタイリッシュなハンドメイドの靴ブランドです。国内外の上質な革やマテリアルを使い個性的なデザインを年に2回発表していく予定です。
ブランドの起源
長い消費者としての立場から、個性的なんだけど、カジュアル過ぎず上質な靴が少ない事に気付き、自分でブランドを始めました。30代から50代、世間的には大人だけど、”たまには羽目を外して、オシャレを楽しみたい！””まだまだセクシーに見られたい！”って思っていたのは私だけではなかったのです。
そうした靴はやはり値段が高いです。一年に何度も買えるものじゃない。私事ですが、身の丈以上の服を購入しました。一目ぼれでしたが即決出来ず、デパート中歩き周って考えても決められず、一晩悩んで買いに行きました。だからこそ大事にして着ていますし、自信と高揚感を与えてくれる気がします。
私のブランドもそうなりたいと思っています。履く人全員を理想の自分像になれるように、履く度にいつも楽しい気持ちになれるように、一助となれれば嬉しいです！
デザイナーについて
2010年ロンドン芸術大学、コードウェイナーズ靴デザイン入学、ジミーチュー、マノロ・ブラニクの講義を受ける。2012年卒業、帰国。2011年在学中、Barratt's デザインコンテストで準優勝。デザインの一部が商品化される。
